Don't be surprised if some of the debt isn't paid off by and survival cash raised by spinning off the frequent flyer programs. Air Canada did it - and they buy miles just like every other partner Aeroplan has - and Aeroplan pays them for the tickets redeemed. It's much harder to get a saver ticket on AC since the spinoff.
