Nice, pristine beaches and great surfing. Been there a number of times (but then I am from Peru).

You will either have to fly into Piura or Tumbes, or take about a 15-hour bus ride.

Mancora is the main city of the beach area, with lots of little beaches up and down the coast. Until recently the only true "resort hotel" was Hotel Punta Sal (in Punta Sal). Still the most known, but there are a lot of boutique hotels and B&B type accomodations popping up these days.
