AA&United now offering 2X EQM, will NW match?

Will NW match? It seems they may have to to be competitive, looks like I better shoot for Plat this year, because with this, no more upgrades for me as a lowly Silver......

AA, United offer double elite-qualifying miles

The nation's two biggest airlines each have rolled out promotions that will help customers reach elite-level frequent-flier status. The promotions at both American and United allow fliers to earn double elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) -– or miles that count toward reaching each airline's threshold for earning elite frequent-flier status. Frequent fliers with both carriers earn elite status once they fly 25,000 miles within a calendar year. Increased elite benefits kick in when fliers hit higher mileage thresholds –- such as at 50,000 or 100,000 flight miles within a calendar year.

For American's promotion, fliers can earn double EQMs for flights between April 16 and June 15. The promotion applies to only to flights operated by American, American Eagle and AA's AmericanConnection partners. Fliers must register for the offer on American's website.

United's double-EQM promotion applies to travel from April 21 through June 15. Only flights operated by United, Ted or United Express are eligible. Customers must register for the offer on United’s website.

At least one other big airline –- Delta -– also is offering a similar promotion. Delta's offer, which was previously announced, offers double EQMs to customers who book at delta.com through April 30. The promotion applies to travel through June 30. Customers must register for the offer at delta.com/double.
