I flew a JAL 777 NRT-ITM in J last autumn--assuming you are asking about those J seats, they are essentially the same as the AA seats, operationally (may even be the same manufacturer, I believe). However, the JAL seat hardshell and armrests are configured slightly differently (including the seat controls), and frankly, JAL's version/layout is superior. But, as I said, I am virtually certain they are identical internally and made by the same company.
