Angry JFK luggage handlers misunderstand "priority"

On LH400 yesterday, all of the C class pax with bags were standing around for about an hour wondering where our bags were. Finally, someone convinced the LH rep to check on them. It turned that they had been unloaded first due to priority tagging, but left in some nether region of the airport rather than delivered to the luggage belt.

Aside from the obvious absurdity of this, do people think that the LH rep should have checked on this earlier, when people pointed out that no priority tagged bags had arrived after regular luggage had started coming out.

FWIW, it seems like the F/Hon bags were handled correctly.
