Hi guys-
I managed to pull-off a CRWSTAR1 a few years ago with many help from here, and now I need help once again.
This time I'll be travelling with my gf which means C/F costs are going to double and make it just a tad unreachable for me. So my thought was to do an RTW while utilizing either:
1. "Daytime" flights on long-haul flights, or
2. Premium economy seats where available
The must visit destination: KUL, CDG, HSV.
Timeframe: December
Frankly, if it wasn't for the side-trip to visit her family in KUL this trip would be rather easy:
SYD-AKL-HKG-LHR-CDG-FRA-JFK-HSV-LAX-AKL-SYD.
To break it down:
1. SYD-AKL: short-haul, Y is tolerable
2. AKL-HKG-LHR: long haul, Y+ with NZ
3. LHR-CDG-FRA: short haul
4. FRA-JFK: SQ26 (not only is it daytime, but also SQ vs LH)
5. JFK-HSV-LAX: all domestic US, so long as I get to my destination on time I"ll be happy
6. LAX-AKL: Y+ with NZ
7. AKL-SYD: short haul
However, not only does this omit KUL but it's also just a bit out of the range for a YRWSPCL fare and puts it into YRWSTAR1.
So now I've crafted the following routing:
SYD-SIN-KUL-SIN-CDG-FRA-JFK-HSV-LAX-AKL-SYD
1. SYD-SIN: I'd really much prefer to take the A380 but by December this year this will have been shifted to a later flight and I'd have to spend a night in SIN before going to KUL
2. SIN-KUL-SIN: shorthaul
3. SIN-CDG: SQ332 with a 1355 departure which means I won't try to sleep as much with the daylight. Can someone confirm that this flight is operated as a daytime flight or night flight? And how about the later flight, SQ334?
4. CDG-FRA: short-haul
5. FRA-JFK-HSV-LAX-AKL-SYD: same note as above
Is there any other way of doing this and booking myself mainly in Y+? I seem to see that TG has Y+ but I'm not quite sure just where this flight flies to.
All that said, in the process of writing this post it seems to be that:
1. Long-haul return flight is covered by LAX-AKL
2. Long-haul Europe-US is more or less covered by the daytime flight in Y on SQ26 (unless there's a better alternative for Y TATL)
and that it's really just the long-haul Asia-Europe that's got me all tied up.
Any suggestions in terms of routing?
As for cost, I checked with my TA and it seems that even with the YRWSPCL fare it'll cost me around A$4k because taxes alone is going cost around A$900?!?!? She also mentioned that YRWSPCL fare might change come May ... hopefully to go lower but I somehow doubt it seeing the "price increases" thread.
