Looking on all above mentioned websites, booking through cheaptickets or orbitz.com will be a 100 dollars cheaper than going through ac.com or LH.com (US $1054 as of today).
Is there a disadvantage with booking ticket(s) through ct/orbitz.com?
Or will I have the same rights/benefits as if I would book through ac.com resp. LH.com?

I've frequently used cheaptix without any problems...mileage posts properly as if I booked thru airline sites. Plus they are great for uncovering some creative "cheap fares" especially with *A carriers... like SJC-LAX-SFO-JFK on UA in p.s. F for less than half the regular p.s. SFO-JFK fare, or CLE-ORD-SFO F on UA (using US code-share) for less than UA coach. ^
The only problem I ever experienced was trying to changing my itinerary... you can't make a change online and have to talk to a live agent...not exactly user-friendly. Then again, they didn't make me talk to India.
