This is not a UA issue (directly), its a UX carrier issue. Sounds like not Mesa if on an EMB170. Republic perhaps or does Transstates fly EMB170s now?
It appears to have been a Shuttle America flight... that's Republic I do believe. Nonetheless, your complaint is with United. Their name is plastered on the planes and they need to know customers are displeased with their regional carrier service when bad things happen.
