Miami Airport Marriott South
My wife and I are on our way to the RC in the Caymans for our 20th Anniversary (26th of when we first met.) We stopped off last night for a one night stay at the Miami Airport Marriott South. BTW, I did send the GM an email letting her know that we were traveling for our anniversary.
While we didn't get there until late (11:15pm), we were both totally impressed with the reception. The Reservations Manager actually stayed at the hotel until we got there. She wanted to say hi and congratulate us personally. In fact, everyone at the front desk stopped what they were doing to come out and congratulate us. We were upgraded to a 1300 Sq.Ft. suite room and the staff sent up a tray of chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of champaign. Along with those treats, there was very nice card sent by the hotel. What was very touching was the fact that it looked like the whole hotel staff signed the card. The card literally had signatures all over it.
I have to admit that in more than 1200 nights in Marriotts (and a large number outside Marriotts) I don't think I have ever had such a personal greeting at a hotel before.
Unfortunately, I can't comment too much on the rest of the hotel as we ate breakfast in the CL and then checked-out. The CL was a little smallish, but well staffed and had a nice assortment of cold breakfast items plus scrambled eggs and oatmeal.
So overall, I have to say the trip has started out very nicely. ^
