Received today via our corporate TA:
"We are pleased to announce that with effect from 1st May 2008, British Airways plan to offer a selection of our UK originating customers enhanced SMS functionality when they fly with us from London Heathrow, on a trial basis.
From 1st May selected customers departing from London Heathrow who are eligible for Online Check-in will receive a SMS message from BA advising them when online check-in is open for their flight, and reminding them of their booking reference number. This will assist our passengers in the pre-departure process and enable them to speed through the airport.
This service will automatically be offered to those customers for whom we have a mobile phone number in the booking. This service will not initially be offered to Executive Club Premier and Gold, and those passengers travelling in First. Additionally those passengers who have used Online check-in 100% of the time over the last 3 months will not receive a message.
We are confident that this enhancement to the pre-departure process for customers travelling from London Heathrow will encourage our customers to take advantage of our Online Check-in proposition, and further enhance their travel experience with British Airways.
For further information please do not hesitate to contact your British Airways Account Manager"
Looks like they are continuing the push to OLCI, although no mention of improving chances of an upgrade. Additionally does anyone else find it strange that they won't be offering the service to Prems and Golds?
