I agree whole-heartedly that the new system
is superior to the old one. And I agree that
"the sign by the old over-sized baggage area directed [you] right over to carousel 9" (as you stated). And it is likely that you (1) walked all the way over to the old area, (2) read the sign redirecting you to carousel 9, (3) walked all the way back to carousel 9, (4) picked up your clubs from the carousel, and (5) left the baggage area without noticing the "old" signs directing you to the "old" pick-up location.
But the "old" signs are still there as of today --- and they are misleading --- and that was my point.
To those of you who are apparently looking to pick a fight, it was my belief that one of FlyerTalk's strong points was to report events relating to the flying experience. If my post saves some folks from walking an extra "mile" to pick up their clubs, skis, fishing poles, etc. --- then it has served its purpose. And just who should I have talked to at EWR about the misleading sign? Do you actually believe that any of the "workers" (using the term loosely) at EWR actually give a damn?!
To

"Continental is obviously the most incredible airline in the world if all you can complain about here is some confusing signs at EWR." --- No, that's not all I can complain about! I chose this particular thread (one of many thousands in the FT Forums) to air a specific complaint regarding a singular issue. I have offered other posts in the past regarding other EWR complaints -- as have many, many others.
And,
HughW, I may eventuallly come up with some clever retort to your suggesting
"That's like complaining about a Rolls Royce because the sign out of their parking lot points the wrong way." --- once I figure out what possible logical relevance that has to anything posted thus far in this thread.
To
sfogate who says
"Be glad the [sic] EWR has signs." --- Really?! So I should be glad EWR has signs that misdirect, mislead and otherwise confuse passengers. If there were no signs, I would then, out of necessity, ask someone where to pick up my golf clubs. In the face of EWR's actually having signs, why would it occur to anyone that the signs were "leftovers" from an earlier era?
But now that I've had my say -- and hopefully saved some from unnecessarily pacing off the extra steps to the "old" oversize baggage area -- I'll save my breath for future threads.
