Once again, as someone who works with flight management, we do not upgrade someone simply because they have done OLCI. Method of check-in has no influence on who gets moved when needed. I have been given no notification that we need to move people based on how they have checked in.
And I can confirm I've never seen any upgrade comment at LGW as a result of OLCI. Ususally just due to EC status. Personally I believe it's pure coincidence that some have OLCI'd and then been upgraded.
