My trip was on 10/7 and I was surprised too about the whole bus thing at nite, but it was the first time I had landed so late in a while. My seat mate (2b) was pretty casual about it and implied it had been going on for a while. Sorry to not include that data on my first post.

For those who aren't familar with SEATAC, it is a LONG walk from the place where the bus deposits you to get to baggage/transpo land.
