St.Pete for the day

Take I-275 to St.Pete, exit off at the first exit when you're almost off the bridge (Fourth Street North) and head downtown.Just past 22nd Avenue on your left is Sunken Gardens, an "old Florida" attraction of beautiful gardens all in a city block. Then head downtown St.Pete to the Salvador Dali museum, for kids try the Great Explorations Museum. The Rays play in St.Pete downtown at the Tropicana dome.If you're not into that, try the Pier a few blocks over. Then head back to I-275, take the Clearwater exit to US 19 N.That'll take you to SR60, Gulf to Bay, and head west to Clearwater Beach. You can take the"scenic" route north thru Bellaire etc on ALT 19 along the coast to Tarpon Springs.Lots of other interesting things to see in the area also. Several easy ways back to Tampa. A nice day trip, plus in May not as crowded as summer is.
