Sorry, I can not understand your situation.
I made CX online booking with my AMEX successfully several times.

Edit to Add:
I now understand.
Online booking for ex-MNL seems not to accept AMEX.
I tried both of Japanese page and Philippines English page.
Hum, odd situation.
