In a lot of places it ends up being cheaper to take a taxi rather than public transportation for 5 people. Is HKG such a place?

Some countries have a problem with 4 people in the back of a taxi...is HKG such a place?

Does HKG have a daily rate for a taxi? We have a 11 hour connection and in reality would like a day tour. Would the taxi be able to do this?

Thanks!
HK taxis are ok with5 passengers (2 on the wide front seat). I haven't heard of daily rates. They charge 16 HK$ for the first 2 km and 7 HK$ per km therafter in steps of 200m. Tolls for tunnels and bridges extra.

There are minivans with drivers for hire as well, but theya re niot supposed to act as taxis rather than transportation of goods. Furtermore very few of the booking hotlines speak English. They are cheaper than taxis, but you would need to tell them you have cargo and 5 people.

Some hints and phone numbers here:

You may be able to negotiate a deal for the day.
