The Guardian is a national newpaper, and there was an article about the hidden charges hire car companies hit customers with.
I haven't used them before myself ...

My understanding is that unlike the US, in the UK CDW is included as standard in your rental (and it says so in my Hertz confirmation). But they try to get more money out of you for CDW excess insurance.
