This happened to me a month ago with a UA employee. I had my garment bag and a small backpack-type thing with me. She said that I could't take both with me. Mind you, I see people with rollerboards big enough to fit my dining room table in AND computer bags which were bulging. I told her that if she doesn't let me through, that would be okay. I showed her my ticket - full-fare F (there, mdtony and other critics) and that I will be glad to cancel this $1900 ticket if she would like and I would go to AA and walk up and purchse a similar one. I was going to LGA for business the next day so finding a flight wasn't an issue. She let me pass.
