If the flights in September you are looking at are still F8, I would gamble that at least 1 NF seat will open up before then (speaking from experience). If you waitlist now, I bet you will get the seat--eventually.

Having said that, you would probably have more fun on the p.s. flights. BUT, the IAD-JFK-IAD flights are a hassle.
