As a PHX-based former HP flyer, I am griping about the demise of HP post-merger. True HP never was known for FC amenities, but I always got an upgrade, FA's were pleasant, Elite CS out of Tempe was great, and HP flew me non-stop, direct, everywhere I needed to go. US was something I ALWAYS avoided, even when I was east-coast based. Now flying US, it seems to me to be just as crappy as I remembered it to be. So, you're right - I don't know why the easties complain. US always sucked - now they have just brought down HP to that level.
