I'm in the same boat -- will cross 1MM BIS miles in late summer/early fall if I stick to my planned schedule. I got screwed when NW went from total miles to BIS for recognition back in 1998 (I think it was) -- I had 997,000 miles (and a bunch that didn't post that I -- unwisely in hindsight -- gave up fighting about). NW handled it so badly -- lost my appeal letter twice and generally delayed things until they said it was too late to argue. Pissed me off so much that I didn't fly them for 5 years except to burn miles...
