Buddy passes are a nice perk when you can use them, but I have heard my share of horror stories of people being stuck for days trying to get on a flight.
Good luck!

Thanks.
Never flown on a buddy pass but I think I have a pretty good understanding of whats involved and how to behave. (Basically don't dress like or act like the Kettles

)
I am planning on taking a nonstop RJ from CAE-DCA on a Sunday morning at 6:25am. So far its half full (flight is on 5/4). I can't imagine too many people will want to be on that flight. I'll also have connections through CLT as a backup. According to my friend the return flight which is not until June 1st has all 50 seats open.
My plans are quite flexible for this trip so its okay if I don't get on right away. I too have heard horror stories, even my friend has a few of his own.
Thanks for posting the dress code. I will make a note not to wear flip flops. (Probably wouldn't anyways but then again I am coming from Carolina...the flip flop capital of the world.)
EDIT: What is the difference between sandals and flip flops. I thought flip flops were a type of sandal??
Thanks everyone for your advice.
