This is the biggest issue I have. LHR is congested. Delays happen. Don't tell me the flight is boarding (now in my book that means people are leaving the terminal and getting on a plane) then leave me to walk 10 mins from lounge to gate to find no one going anywhere.

Airlines are creating rods for their own backs with this approach and I think one of the few places I've seen this managed well was in the RCC in T3. The monitors there seemed to offer different info - general ones would say the flight was closing just as they told you in the RCC it was "go to gate". Result was that the CIP passengers walked straight on board and everyone was happy.
