That's fair and who are we to judge you / your needs?
But just a comment that I never saw, or at least never noticed anyone traveling with an armed guard in India. On the other hand, having a local as a guide would probably be useful. There's a lot of history in India that you don't really want to miss out on. In addition the lay of the land is not necessarily intuitive so local knowledge of the streets / directions can be rather useful particularly in a place like BOM.
