One thing that drives me batty is the date helper window's complete lack of intelligence. Select an outbound flight for six months hence, then go to select the date for your return and you have to click through all six months. Obviously my return flight is going to be after my outbound flight.
This is a no-win situation that has many different incarnations. In the past, changing the outbound would change the return (as you indicated you want). Others said they they found the automatic changing of the outbound annoying. I think that the compromise they've reached- leaving it alone and making the user responsible for picking dates, works best for everyone. If they change based on the outbound, what do they change it to? Lots of different preferences.
