In the last few weeks at T1, when flying a dom leg, it was perfectly possible to do this. Security was (and still is, now that BA have gone) swift, and it was possible to time a Hex to arrive at the station at T-45minutes, walk upstrairs, h=get through security, into the lounge and down a G&T in relative comfort before boarding.
