I am not giving up hope yet. UA has had a very good FF program, better than most (I'm not going to start comparing oranges and apples with you guys so don't even start with that BD crap, which is not even an option for many of us) and they didn't "have too". IMHO they had such a good program because it is essential to their strategy, business and frequent fliers. GS appears to be an extension of that same strategy. Reward people well and they will keep coming back and asking their employers to spend their travel dollars at UA. That strategy seems to be working for UA. So, I'm not giving up hope just yet. I think the new UA, even if it is run by CO execs, will have more in common with the current UA than the current CO. CO, as a smaller and different player, has a different strategy with less international business, and probably less business/frequent fliers, they take a different approach and NonePass reflects that.

I am afraid that service will just deteriorate for everyone and we will have fewer choices.
I too have the same concerns about these mergers, namely less compettition, but they have to compete against each other, AA and the LCCs like WN. Besides now that there is a "Premiere American Global Airline" a UA/CO airline will have to work that much harder!
