I think from a purely selfish position as a Delta customer who lives in Atlanta, it is probably better if this merger happens in the way it is being talked about, rather than not. It keeps the Delta name, keeps the HQ in Atlanta, and probably won't have much immediate (negative) impact on operations into and out of ATL. Whether or not the merger--assuming it happens and gets regulatory approval--proves successful is open to question. Still, the bigger bulk of the combined operation--and the tie-in with AF/KLM--is probably a net plus for us Atlantans.
