Actually, neither one of those is a problem. I leave early in the morning, so the trade winds haven't kicked up at that point. By the time I'm back from Haleakala, I get a very strong tailwind from Kahului all the way back to Wailea.
Traffic isn't bad, either, now that they finally finished the bike path on Hwy. 311.
Hmmmm...I guess I have been unlucky on the wind issue and I have left Wailea at first light
Construction in Hawaii is a very interesting process....seems positively sublime that a project that takes at most a year elsewhere can take nearly a decade in Hawaii
