You're right. The fare codes you see on the website are for saver awards.

As far as I know, the only way to find out about partner awards is to call the airline. Each airline give each other a unique set of award inventory. (i.e. You might not be able to get a ORD-LHR seat using your mileage plus points but will be able to using Aeroplan miles.)
