I got my Indian visa yesterday using Travisa in NYC. It was very easy. I showed up at 9:05am to drop off my materials, was out of the building by 9:25. When the website said my passport was back from the consulate I returned to pick it up, which took less than 5 minutes.

My only complaint: they need to stay open a bit later. By the time they post the notice online that your passport is ready, there's only like 45 minutes left before they close. I barely made it. If they stayed open until 7pm instead of 6pm that'd make same day service a lot easier.
