Why wait?

As I mentioned in a previous post - sorry, I'm not adept enough to insert the link - I suspect that if you are a TD or CIBC client, and want to make a booking, you can call them and ask to make the booking yourself, and then have them re-imburse the points/miles, as if it were an Infinite card.
On a related note, I will take great pleasure in bashing RBC Gold Preferred. I attempted to book a rental car in LAS for a week. I check Travelocity, find my required car for $230 CAD plus taxes, then call RBC travel rewards. "No problem Mr. Willflyforfood - we have the car you require, it will cost you only $460 plus taxes, or 46,000 points" exact same car, same rental company, same dates.
Boy, am I glad I got far away from RBC for the TD travel card.
