So do I understand it then that you have stayed there just once ? If so your 'never ever' is based on one single experience ?!?

I often book the cheapest
Mr_Bigglesworth, other times I book a Club room (especially since the new Club opened, which really is great), all depends on rates and whether I'll be spending any time in the hotel - each time I get upped to a Junior Suite.
The only time I don't is if my stay is in January, when - every single year - every single suite at the hotel is booked by people at the Toy Fair (and who often use the rooms as mini showrooms I believe). In Jan. I get put in an Exec. (Harbour view) which is quite a nice room (not great but quite nice).
Initially (a couple of years back on my first stay) I too was only upped from a City View to a Harbour View, and I took issue with it - the person in charge of such matters at the time did not seem to know that RA's get a guaranteed Exec. or Suite, and I had to 'educate' her on the point. Since then no problems.
Sounds like you and others however continue to be given Amb. upgrades not RA upgrades

Do you book and just turn up, or do you ever get in contact to make sure RA has been noted and appropriate upgrade has been processed ?
One other important point in their defence on this though - the hotel also were keen to impress that (and it was a point made by someone here on a thread at the time too) the iC GS has very few suites, and thus very hard to always put an RA in one. Even so, you should still be getting an Exec./two class upgrade even when suites not available.
