I think the problem is that there is a shortage of people who can turn on the guidance systems full stop, this has been a persistent problem at T! and T4 so why expect anything different at T5. I do wonder though why in 2008 it needs a person to turn on the guidance system, or indeed to manouevre an airbridge to an aircraft.

As to the announcement itself I can't say I am really surprised. I think that we can say with 100% certainty that if the T4-T5 migration deteriorates into the farce we have seen as a result of the T1 migration then WW will be clearing his desk at Waterside in July. If I were on the BA Board right now I would be turning my mind to the issue of "succession planning" as a matter of urgency. I had thought that there was a chance to merge any shambolic migration from T4 into the current PR disaster and this would insulate WW a clear rescheduling of the move from T4 affords him (and BA) no such "protection".

On a personal level I was hoping the T4 migration was complete well in advance of June as I will be making the first flight I MUST take from T5 at the end of June. I can at least cheer myself up with the thought that WW will be departing if I am affected by any further chaos.
