P.S. Most of downtown Jacksonville is pretty empty after business hours and a fair amount of it isn't particularly safe. The hotels that are there tend to be pretty expensive for the area (they cater mostly to business people and convention groups).

A better place to stay would be around a place like the St. Johns Town Center (kind of a new generic mall with a lot of dining options - about 15 miles from the airport). Here's the link to the web site hotel finder:

You could probably swing a stay there without a car - but I wouldn't recommend it. I do recommend staying out at the beaches - but you would definitely need a car for that. Robyn
