I have managed to back up the most critical files onto my EEE through BadBlue, but it's still a lot of stuff in that disk...
I will get spybot to see what it comes up with.

Run both Spybot and Adaware -- the combination of the two will catch a lot. Also, make sure you run them from "safe" mode.
