We aren't really into big motorcoach trips with hoardes of tourists if there is an option to avoid that. In South Africa we did a tour in a minivan with a couple of other couples and it was certainly the best way to do it.
I've found a few websites on Google that have overnight trips including a hotel and such but we'd like to see if there is anything we can do in a day. We are both first time visitors to Tokyo and being out of the city for two full days isn't ideal.
If anyone can recommend an operator for such a trip to Fuji-Hakone-Izu I'd greatly appreciate it. If a motorcoach is the only way to see it we'll live with that!
If it helps out with info we are staying at the Conrad in Shiodome.
Thanks for your help!

Try Sunrise tour (check viatour).. They have the 1 day Mt Fuji/Hakone trip.
I joined a tour on 3/25 departing from Tokyo and it was all foggy up in Mt. Fuji. The tour bus was only allowed to go up to the 4th station since the 5th station was closed due to winter safety issues. We left Tokyo at around 9:10 and arrived at the 4th station at around 10:30 - 11 (don't remember)... The 2nd half of the trip to Hakone was depressing as well due to the foul weather and poor visibility.
Oh well, I will go again in the summer probably...
