I've checked wine through many times, either in 6 or 12 pack styrofoam wine shippers. In fact the last time I checked wine through in SFO the GA made a big deal out of hand delivering to TSA and through to IAD for delivery. I've always had to sign the luggage waiver on these boxes though. But not a single broken or stolen wine bottle yet. Obviously areas that see these boxes tend to be a bit more savy in handling them. I'll be checking more through in June.
