I recently was looking over the folios of my last 4 stays (same 4 that I mentioned to William in another thread re: promo)......and noticed something unusual with three of them.
Two of the stays were booked at the Sheraton Boston......at the same rate plan and nightly rate.
However, there was a significant difference between the 2 final totals......even after I take into account the lone charge for a glass of wine + tip at the Club Lounge on my first stay (listed separately on the folio under 'Room Service').
On the folios for both stays.....there is a listing of the room rate under the rate plan....and another described as "Room Revenue".....yet no listing for the taxes and fees.
Given that....one might assume that this "Room Revenue" listing would be just that....a combined total for the taxes and fees.
Also....given that each folio was based on the same rate plan.....one might easily assume that both of the 'Room Revenue" listings should also be the same.....especially if that listing is only a combined total of the taxes and fees.
However, that is NOT the case.....and I can't figure out why.
FWIW, the folio with the higher 'Room Revenue' listing is the one that does not have the Lounge charge.....
Here's some additional info:
The base rate for both 1-night stays was $149.
The 'Room Revenue' charges were $22.28 for the first stay (one that also has the lounge charge) and
$29.75 for the 2nd night.
The e-mail reservation confirmations for each stay listed the same rate: $167.55 ($149 + $18.55 tax).
FWIW, each folio was to be credited $10 because I was told that they didn't have the $10 Starbucks Gift Cards which were a part of the rate plan that I had booked at SPG.com.....and as promised, there is a $10 credit on each folio.
Theoretically, that should have lowered my final bill to $157.55....at least for the stay without any other charges...right?
Not in this case......as I ended up paying $168.75 for that stay.
Before I contact SPG to formally inquire about these 'differences'.....I thought I would check here first......especially if others have also noticed similar things.
Any insight would be appreciated....as I could very likely be overlooking something.
On a similar note.....one of my stays at the Westin Copley Place ended up being billed at a slightly lower total than what was listed on my reservation confirmation.........go figure.
The only one of those 4 stays that closely matched the quote on the reservation confirmation was my 2nd stay at the Westin......

PS: I much prefer it if hotels would list all taxes and fees separately......something the Westin did for my 2nd stay (the one that was correct).
