Landing at LHR today, for about the 6th flight in a row on BA, the cabin crew didn't ask any passengers to open the window blinds prior to landing. I'm aware this apparently isn't a CAA requirement, but BA seems to be just about the only airline I ever travel on that's happy to let a plane land with half of the window blinds down - every other airline seems to include asking passengers to raise the blinds in the pre-landing checks.
Today in WT+ virtually every blind was down. I know this doesn't really represent any sort of safety issue (although it does make the cabin feel a bit claustrophobic), but I was wondering, is the BA official policy on this to let pax do what they want... and if so, why does this seem to be at odds with the rest of the industry?
Yes it's your choice. The only blinds that have to be open are on overwing emergency exit rowsm and at all doors. On the U/D the rows forward and aft on the doors have to be open as the upper deck doors don't have windows.
