So I replaced them with this tiny pair of fold-up scissors with a blade that's maybe 1.5cm long that I bought from a vendor in Singapore. Of course these have a really sharp point which is at the very least more dangerous to me. But since they fold up they usually get missed during the X-ray inspection.
During the Great Pointy Object era, I carried a pair of fold-up scissors in my make-up bag just on principle. Never caught.
Now, of course, liquid make-up and lip gloss are the fashionable threats to aviation safety and security.
