The delay isnt elephants. Its dinosaurs (aka Indian customs officials wanting to pick every package apart looking for dutiable goods). Expect to find at least some of your packages crudely torn open and resealed with an old fashioned sealing wax stamp. And a demand notice on cheap paper demanding Rs.XXX in duty + penalty (after which depends on how much you "negotiate" with the people in the local customs office)
