Best Way to Handle Unused Pacific Surfliner Tix?

They are more like "to be used" not unused.
I'm booking trips for the hockey playoffs far enough out to get my 3 day AAA discount. I'm booking for two, though sometimes I might be flying solo.

I've set them for Quik-Trak pickup.
My question is what to do with those I won't use?

Should I just pick them up and use them later? Since these tickets are totally interchangeable and not reserved on this train; this is what I am inclined to do.

Also, if only I go, will it print out both my tickets? If so, I'd have one for future use.

If I don't pick up a ticket, is it expired or cancelled?
I guess this is my biggest concern.

Thanks for any tips.
