Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) will begin year-round daily flights between Seattle and Maui, Hawaii, on July 17.
The Seattle-based airline holding company also said seasonal flights between Anchorage and Maui will operate twice a week from Oct. 31 to April 25, 2009.
Alaska Air said that the closures of Aloha Airgroup Inc. and ATA Airlines "significantly reduced service between the mainland and Hawaii" and that the company is studying other possibilities for more service.
Aloha filed for bankruptcy on March 21, and ATA said April 3 it would cease all operations.
The two carriers represented about 15% of air traffic between the west coast and the Hawaiian islands.
Alaska Air's shares fell 12 cents, or 0.5%, to $20.60 in recent trading.
