Because if I can power my massive 17" laptop from the little cigar lighter in my 12-year-old car through a full-sized socket while having the lights, wipers, radio, what have you also running, it must surely be easier to do that through a purpose-built power point in a newly redesigned seat and one that can draw on the power reserves of a 747 (and usually they don't have them in Y, meaning that you won't see dozens of people siphoning the juice at the same time)?!?
