The writing is awkward in this op-ed. It's uncomfortable to read. The author also makes several repetitive statements.

Island Air could easily return to some of the more heavily traveled interisland markets, and perhaps reintroduce the Q400 aircraft, which is fantastically economical. However, passengers do prefer jets; hopefully the benefits of the Q400 would be enough to coax passengers onto a WP flight.

The author forgets that the name "Aloha Airlines" and operating certificate may fail to sell at bankruptcy auction. The operating certificate can be used outside of Hawai'i, and the name "Aloha Airlines", even if sold, won't necessarily be used right away. The name could possibly be included in the sale of Aloha's Air Cargo division. The Eastern Airlines name is owned by someone, but hasn't been used. The National Airlines name was auctioned off during the Pan Am bankrupcty proceedings and was unused for a number of years.

A well-funded restart is almost certainly out of the question in this market. If AQ couldn't find anyone willing to invest in an interisland airline while it was still a going concern, it's going to be just as difficult to seek an investor willing to front a large chunk of change in a market with extremely poor prospects. It may be possible to make a small fortune in Hawai'i's airline industry, but one would have to start with a large fortune.
