So unless you are claiming theres a fraud being committed...these have been the terms all year.



Whether you buy direct from an airline, or through Expedia, you really don't get a difference in the safety of your miles if the airline goes under. They are still going to be useless. But its still usually better to book directly, because if theres a problem, you can deal with the airline directly.
