Who knows longterm? But according to
this article, all the (US) majors have more than enough cash on hand to last beyond 2009 as long as oil does not go up way more than it is now (on average through then) and evenues don't drop
drastically. That does however mean that they've got to do everything to try to conserve that cash.
That's just the majors, tho. Teeny weenies of the Skybus size are a whole 'nother story...
