Just thought I would report back on my experiences.

I had my Victorian licence accepted by many TSA ID checkers. At SEA the ID checker thought it was Canadian - so close to Canada and it mentions Australia on the licence!!
At DFW the guy vacillated for what seemed an eternity. Shining his little blue light over it. I guess he was being transfixed by the hologram. In fact most ID checkers used the little blue light. I only wished I still had my South Australian licence which had come with a warning not to shine a light directly at the hologram (I don't know why but I could have found out via TSA ID checkers).

It was rejected at LAX one day, but not two days later. It was also rejected at SFO and STL. On all three occasions the passport was asked for and it was only the LAX ID checker who started to look through the pages. I asked in an innocent tone whether or not she was an immigration official. She then stopped the little tour through my passport. I was surprised that this happened at LAX in the Elite line at T4 since they must have so many Australians pass through there every day with QF flights and onwards AA connections.

At FLL the ID checker loved the hologram on the licence, told me she thought it to be cool.
