Yes... I realized this morning (before seeing your post) that I could actually buy enough AS miles to fly J and it would still be less than buying a non-refundable business class ticket plus it would give me the flexibility of a cheaper change or re-deposit...

I also have done a few "practice runs" 330 days out by calling the partner desk and each time there were 2 J seats available on BA or AF but nothing on AA,NW, CO or DL.
